Project description

Drawing from the historical context of the Mill District Master Plan, Montgomery’s new Village Hall is located within the original business district along the historic Fox River. SDA was hired by the Village of Montgomery to prepare the overall site design and detailed construction documents for the site and landscape improvements.

The site design includes the recirculating "tributary creek" which flanks the main entry plaza where SDA designed broad sweeps of colored pavers to symbolize the Fox River and its geological history. Site furnishings such as benches, flagpoles, landscape lighting and bike racks allow the Village Hall to fit into the developing downtown area streetscape theme. With sensitivity to sustainability, SDA also incorporated functioning rain gardens and permeable pavers to increase natural infiltration and reduce rain water runoff.
