McClaren, Wilson and Lawrie, Inc. - Architects
Commissioned by McClaren, Wilson & Lawrie architects, SDA prepared plans to meet the demands of a first responder building and local ordinances, while also incorporating creative and sustainable design solutions for this 23 acre public safety campus. Throughout the $70 million project, particular attention was given to the environmental details which make it an excellent candidate for a LEED Gold certification.
In preparing schematic, design development and construction documents, SDA focused considerable attention on the entry presentation of the campus by incorporating site amenities such as plazas, specialty pavement designs, juxtaposed retaining walls, unique entry signage, flag poles, and large scale planters. Adding to a distinctive sense of place, the main plazas incorporate an outdoor press area and the Fallen Officer’s Memorial. Complimenting the elements, SDA created a predominately native landscape incorporating bio-swales, wetlands, prairie establishment, wildlife habitat and other best management practices which blankets nearly 50% of the overall project area.
